Prerana – Storytelling, Parikrama

A couple of weeks ago, Swati and I, embarked on an exciting trip to Parikrama, Centre for Learning, at Jayanagar, to share with some wonderful children, important messages on sustainability, in the form of short stories, written by the team. The experience itself was delightful, for the children were attentive, loved interacting with us, and for the most part, extremely interested in the stories. We started with a small introduction about the work we do, and what we were there for, and proceeded with the storytelling session. We’d often stop in between, interact with the children, and ask them to tell us about their ideas on how they could help move towards a sustainable world. Though initially shy, with a little coaxing from their (very friendly) teachers, the students came up to solutions to a sustainable world by themselves. We read out a few stories to the students, and discussed the message hidden in each of them. We then proceeded to have a very interactive session where the students talked to us freely about themselves and their hobbies. This first session of story-telling was a glorious experience, and it was very heart-warming to see so many young minds interested in making the world a better place.
